Summary

The new French decree on refrigerants is expected in spring 2005. It replaces registration at the prefecture with a conformity certificate. To be entitled to handle fluids, practitioners will have to be audited by an approved organization, under penalty of no longer being supplied by the distributors. The threshold of 2 kg is also removed: all practitioners are thus from now on concerned. The European regulation on fluorinated gases has also just been adopted. This text, which should come into effect at the end of 2006, reinforces the requirements with regards to containment, recovery, training and certification, by emphasizing the installation owners' responsibility.
