Summary

IN THE ROTATING CARBON DIOXIDE FREEZERS THE PIECES ARE FLUNG INTO THE OPENING IN THE PIPE (DRUM) ATHIGH SPEED ACCOMPANIED BY CARBON DIOXIDE SNOW, SO THAT THE MOIST SURFACE OF THE PRODUCT IS FROZEN IN THE WHIRLING CO2 SNOW AND IMMEDIATELY AFTERWARDS IN A BED OF CO2 SNOW. THIS ALSO PREVENTS PIECES OF THE PRODUCT STICKINGTO THE COLD INNER SIDE OF THE DRUM. HEAT IS REMOVED BY SUBLIMATION OF CO2 SNOW ON THE SURFACES OF THE PRODUCT. HEAT EXCHANGE CAN BE IMPROVED BY ROTATING THE PRODUCT VIGOROUSLY IN THE BED OF CO2 SNOW.
