Summary

IT HAS BEEN FOUND NECESSARY TO CHANGE RECOMMENDATIONS WHERE FUNGICIDES OF THE CARBENDAZOLE GROUP (TBZ, BENLATE) HAVE BEEN USED, DUE TO THE DEVELOPMENT OF RESISTANT STRAINS OF PENICILLIUM EXPANSUM. OVER THE PAST THREE YEARS, THE COMBINATION OF CAPTAN (0.25% ACTIVE INGREDIENT) AND TBZ (0.06% A.I.) HAS BEEN FOUND TO BE SATISFACTORY, BOTH IN THE LABORATORY AND IN COMMERCIAL APPLICATION. MATERIALS AGAINST STORAGE DECAY HAVE BEEN FOUND TO BE ESPECIALLY EFFICACIOUS: CAPTAN (WETTABLE POWDER AND FLOWABLE), SONAX AND PROCHLORAZ. FURTHER RECOMMENDATIONS WILL BE BASED ON A COMBINATION OF MATERIALS IN ORDER TO PREVENT THE DEVELOPMENT OF RESISTANT MECHANISMS TO FUNGICIDE ACTIVITY.
