Summary

In this study, composition ratio change of R448A in the flash tank is numerically analysed. R448A is used to alternate the conventional refrigerant R404A for refrigeration system. R448A is zeotropic mixture. It shows different characteristics in the flash tank. R32 and R125 have lighter molecular weight and higher pressure at the corresponding temperature (0 ℃) than R134a, R1234yf, and R1234ze. Therefore, they are injected more into the compressor. Refrigerants entering the evaporator are decreased. They have a low normal boiling point (NBP); there is a limit to good performance. As a result, in R32 and R125, the mass fraction entering the evaporator is reduced by 20% and 30%, respectively, and the enthalpy difference decreases up to 5%.
