On heat transfer enhancement during liquid film flow.

Author(s) : SINKUNAS S., GYLYS J., KIELA A.

Summary

This paper presents analytical and experimental research of the momentum and heat transfer developments in gravitational liquid film flow. Laminar plane film flows over different convex surfaces of vertical tubes are explored in the paper. The velocity distribution across water and transformer oil film and correspondingly the thickness of the film were evaluated. Equations for the calculation of local velocities in the film with respect to cross curvature of wetted surface are established. Heat transfer in the enhance region for the turbulent film was carried out experimentally, leading to the determination of the stabilisation length. The experimental results are discussed with respect to the local heat transfer dependence upon Reynolds number and initial velocity of the film.
