Summary

THE STRONG ASYMMETRY OF THE I-V CHARACTERISTIC OF TWO-DIMENSIONAL TIN-INDIUM-TIN AND TIN-INDIUM-LEAD JOSEPHSON TUNNEL JUNCTIONS BY APPLYING AN EXTERNAL MAGNETIC FIELD IN THE OPPOSITE DIRECTIONS NORMAL TO ONE DIRECTION WAS FOUND. IN ONE OF MAGNETIC FIELD DIRECTIONS THERE APPEARS THE NEARLY VERTICAL RESISTIVE BRANCH IN THE I-V CHARACTERISTIC RELATED WITH FLUXON MOTION. NO SUCH PECULIARITY IS OBSERVED IN THE OPPOSITE FIELD DIRECTION. THIS ASYMMETRY IS DUE TO CURRENT DISTRIBUTION IN TWO-DIMENSIONAL JOSEPHSON TUNNEL JUNCTION WHICH RESULTS IN THE CURRENT CONCENTRATION ON ONE EDGE OF THE JUNCTION.
