Summary

New challenges in replacing the conventional refrigerants of R22 and R502 with mixture refrigerants are reviewed. The state of the art on the development of equations of state for HFC mixture refrigerants and the cycle performance of new refrigeration cycles like the Lorentz cycle, using a mixture refrigerant, are discussed. The quality of the thermodynamic property information on HFC refrigerants is quite reliable because new reliable equipment for measuring the thermodynamic properties is available and the improved procedures for developing equations of state can be applied at present.
