OPTIMAL MATCHING OF GAS PULSE FREQUENCY AND LENGTH OF PULSE TUBES IN A ROTARY JET EXPANDER.

Author(s) : SHAO J.

Summary

A ROTARY JET EXPANDER, IN WHICH ROTATING JETS PRODUCE FLUID SHOCK WAVES IN A RING OF RADIAL PULSE TUBES, PRODUCES REFRIGERATION WHEN THE COMPRESSED FLUID RECOILS FROM THE CLOSED ENDS OF THE PULSE TUBES. THE AUTHORS SET UP A TEST RIG AND DEVELOPED FORMULAE TO DISCOVER OPTIMAL MATCHING BETWEEN ROTATIONAL SPEED OF THE JETS AND LENGTH OF THE PULSE TUBES FOR MAXIMUM ISENTROPIC EFFICIENCY. D.W.H.
