Optimising heat pump operation in a small district heating grid.

Author(s) : AROEN A.

Summary

The heat pump efficiency depends not only on the heat pump and the heat pump design, but the boundary conditions for its operation is just as important. In Alesund, Norway, a computerised supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) system is used to optimise the operation under the different load and temperature conditions in the district heating plant. The SCADA system and the applied control strategies have proved to be very efficient, and has considerably contributed to easy, efficient and economical operation of the district heating plant.
