Optimization of a cooling system of a large-sized industrial warehouse used for storing perishable food with water-glycol mixture as coolant.

Number: 234

Summary

This article investigates the energetic optimization of a cooling installation made up of air cooled chillers and cooling coils as main units in order to keep cooling an industrial unit of big dimensions used as storehouse of perishable food. The coolant is water-glycol and the installation has three main air-air cooled chiller, a primary and a secondary pumping circuit, an inertial tank, several cooling coils and all the pipes that connect the components.
A comparison between two components of TRNSYS 17 has been carried out in order to obtain which configuration is better for keeping the temperature of one zone of the industrial warehouse close to its set temperature point. The components are a cooling coil and a heat exchanger with constant effectiveness. The results show that a simplify model with basics heat exchangers with a high effectiveness improve the behaviour of the system.
