Summary

A BRIEF DESCRIPTION IS GIVEN ON THE BASIC PRINCIPLES IN OPTIMIZATION OF REFRIGERATING PLANTS, FROM THE VIEW-POINT OF A PRACTICAL WORKING ENGINEER. EXAMPLES OF OPTIMIZATION OF R22 SINGLE-STAGE AND TWO-STAGE PLANTS ARE SHOWN, AND THE INFLUENCE OF OPERATING TIME PER YEAR IS DISCUSSED. THE EVALUATION OF THE RATE OF RETURN OF THE INVESTMENT IS MENTIONED, AS WELL AS THE VARIATION IN THE RATIO BETWEEN INCREASE IN INVESTMENT AND DECREASE IN POWER CONSUMPTION.
