Type of article: Article

Summary

THE CASCADE REFRIGERATION SYSTEMS EMPLOYING TWO STAGES ON HIGH-TEMPERATURE (HT) SIDE AND A SINGLE STAGE ON LOW-TEMPERATURE . LT) SIDE, ARE OPTIMIZED FOR MAXIMUM COP. REFRIGERANTS R12, R22 AND R717 ON HT SIDE AND R13 ON LT SIDE ARE CONSIDERED. AMONGST THE PAIRS OF REFRIGERANTS CONSIDERED, R717 AND R13 PAIR IS FOUND TO BE THE BEST FROM OVERALL VIEW POINT, WHILE R12 AND R13 COMBINATION THE LEAST FAVOURABLE. TO COVER A WIDE RANGE OF APPLICABILITY LT SIDE TEMPERATURE IS VARIED FROM 200.15 TO 233.25 K, WHILE AMBIENT TEMPERATURE FROM 303.15 TO 333.15 K. OVERLAP TEMPERATURE VALUES IN THE CASCADE ARE TAKEN AS 5 AND 10 K.
