Summary

In response to the unreasonable utilization of energy in food processing and livestock slaughtering industries, a novel heating and cooling integrated system with twin screw compressor and intercooler is exhibited in this paper which conducts based on the conventional cascade refrigeration apparatus. The original condensation heat of refrigeration system is completely or partially recovered and the utilization of cooling and heating is achieved simultaneously. A thermodynamic model is established to determine the optimal design and operating parameters such as condensation temperatures of cycle 1 and cycle 2 (T1cond and T2cond) and compressor load rates to maximize the coefficient of performance (COP). The system performance is expected to be identified when the heating capacity and operating conditions change. The results show that T1cond, T2cond and compressor 3 load rate have a significant impact on the system COP with the variation of heating capacity. Finally, the system performance can be significantly improved by introducing an intercooler.
