Type of article: Article

Summary

From almost any viewpoint, the organic food market in Europe appears to be booming. Areas of land under production and in conversion are expanding at an increasing rate, the amount of shelf-space given to organic foods in most supermarkets is growing, there is no abatement of the demands of the healthy food lobby, and the subject is being aired constantly by the press, radio, and television. Organic food has become the fastest growing sector of the food industry, albeit from a small base.
