Summary

This education pack was developed by the UNEP ActionOzone Programme within the framework of the implementation of the Montreal Protocol. It gives primary school teachers a complete teaching tool on ozone depletion, UV rays and solar protection. It is built around a character much appreciated by young children: Ozzy Ozone, the Ozone molecule, and leads to a series of multimedia teaching tools (including the Web site for children). The pack contains the following teaching material: a 9-minute Ozzy Ozone video (CD) in 6 languages (Arabic, Japanese, English, French, Russian and Spanish) tells the story of Ozzy discovering the concrete causes of Ozone depletion on Earth; a comic strip and the Ozzy calendar with 12 illustrations; a map of the world making it possible to identify the most affected regions. It mentions hot climate areas and ozone concentration in the upper part of the atmosphere; a "Who knows?" quiz that comprises 8 question and answer cards. Each card comprises 7 questions of three different levels; an UV-Meter to observe and measure the strength of the sun's UV rays.
