Type of article: Article

Summary

After establishing precise performance criteria for packaging materials intended for use, on the one hand, in the conservation of living vegetable organs (vegetables and fruits) in modified atmospheres, and on the other, in the vacuum or inert gas packaging of foodstuffs without repiratory metabolisms, the authors survey the range of gas and vapor absorbers currently available. They proceed to an inventory of the many flexible, simple, and composite plastic films being offered by manufacturers.
