Summary

THE CONTINUAL CLEANING OF PAINT FROM TRANSPORT FIXTURES AND SIMILAR PARTS IN A LARGE PAINT APPLICATION SUCH AS THAT USED IN MOTOR CAR PRODUCTION, HAS BEEN A PROBLEM. MOST CLEANING METHODS LEAVE POLLUTED SLUDGE OR AIR CONTAMINANT TO BE DEALT WITH. HOWEVER, PAINTS IN GENERAL CONTRACT AT A GREATER RATE THAN METALS WHEN SUBMITTED TO DECREASING TEMPERATURES. USUALLY THIS LEADS TO THE PAINT CRACKING, LOSING ADHERENCE, AND ITS EASY REMOVAL BY SHOT BLASTING. THE ARTICLEDIH LIQUID NITROGEN AT 77 K (-196 DEG C) IS USED AS A COOLING BATH. D.W.H.
