Passenger car air conditioning using carbon dioxide as refrigerant.

Author(s) : GENTNER H.

Summary

Results of the RACE (European Community) project are presented by focusing on construction of prototypes, wind tunnel tests and system performance. To evaluate the results comparison to series HFC-134a systems has been carried out concerning environment, safety, technology and costs. Regarding all relevant aspects CO2 systems seem to be feasible for future series application if a world-wide conversion from HFC-134a to CO2 could be achieved.
