Number: pap. ID: 318

Author(s) : FUJIMOTO I., UENO K., SAITO K., et al.

Summary

The facility for testing the performance of a Variable Refrigerant Flow (VRF) system was constructed and the performance of a VRF system having four indoor units was experimentally investigated. The rated cooling capacity of the VRF system is 28.0 kW. First, a steady-state experiment based on the Japanese Industrial Standards (JIS) was carried out. The tested VRF system is driven at a constant compressor rotational speed in this experiment. The efficiency of the system under partial load was clarified. Then, the performance of the VRF system on automatic operation using the conventional controller on the VRF system was investigated. Experiments showed that the automatic operation performance was lower than the steady-state performance, especially when the VRF system was operated under partial load. The control method of the VRF system was modified and the automatic operation performance under partial load was improved.
