Performance of HCFC22 alternative refrigerants in a residential split air conditioner.
Author(s) : HUGHES H. M., FELDMAN S. J.
Summary
The paper focuses on the test results from an evaluation of three zero ODP alternatives to R22 in a unitary air conditioner. Refrigerants evaluated include R22 as the baseline, and three alternatives: an azeotropic mixture of R32 and R125, R134a, and a zeotropic blend of R32, R125, and R134a. When testing with AZ20 or R134a, special compressors were used with either reduced or increased displacement. This normalised the capacity of the air conditioner to R22. Results of tests are given.
