Summary
THIS STUDY WAS UNDERTAKEN IN ORDER TO DETERMINE THE VOLUME GENERATED BY THE COMPRESSOR REQUIRED FOR STATIC ICE STORAGE WHEN THE EVAPORATOR TEMPERATURE VARIES WITH THE INCREASE IN ICE THICKNESS. R22 AND R717 WERE CONSIDERED FOR PISTON AND SCREW COMPRESSORS. TWO PIPE DIAMETERS WERE STUDIED. A COP RELATING THE VOLUME SWEPT BY THE COMPRESSOR TO THE PIPE SECTION OF THE ICE BUILDER IS USED FOR THE DEVELOPMENT OF A CURVE FOR ENERGY COST AS A FUNCTION OF TIME AND ICE THICKNESS.
