Summary

A new refrigerator test system was built up according to the national standard. The reliability and performance of the refrigerator were investigated experimentally by using R-134a/mineral oil/TiO2 nanoparticles substituting for R-134a/polyolester. The energy consumption test, freeze capacity test and the system running properties monitoring were conducted under the same conditions. The results indicate that R-134a/mineral oil/TiO2 nanoparticles works normally and safely in the refrigerator. The refrigerator performance was better than the R-134a/polyolester system, and the 0.06% mass concentration save 21.2% energy compared to the R-134a/polyolester system, 0.1% proportion can save 26.1%. Therefore, it is feasible to use R-134a/mineral oil/TiO2 nanoparticles as a refrigerator working fluid without any system reconstruction.
