Summary

THE PERFORMANCE TESTS ARE CARRIED OUT UNDER THE CONDITIONS OF OTEC. R22 IS USED AS THE WORKING FLUID. THE OVERALL HEAT TRANSFER COEFFICIENT IS ABOUT 2,500 W/M2 K AT A COLD WATER VELOCITY OF 1 METRE/SEC AND THE VAPOUR INLETTEMPERATURE IS 295.8 TO 296.2 K (22.8 TO 23.2 DEG C). EMPIRICAL CORRELATIONS ARE PROPOSED FOR PREDICTING THE AVERAGE CONDENSATION HEAT TRANSFER COEFFICIENTS AND WATER SIDE HEAT TRANSFER COEFFICIENTS. THE WATER SIDE PRESSURE DROP IS 10 KILOPASCALS AT A COLD WATER VELOCITY OF 1 METRE/SEC.
