Performance tests results for display cases when operating in direct expansion and indirectly refrigerated mode is it the only option for some natural refrigerants?

Author(s) : HRNJAK P. S.

Summary

The author presents indirect (dual loop) refrigerating systems using single-phase secondary fluids (brines). Measurements have clearly shown that the energy consumption of indirect systems may be similar or lower than that of direct expansion systems. Moreover, in indirect systems the frost formation on the air coolers will be more uniform and the frost layer is easier to remove. As a result, the energy consumption during defrosting will drop and the temperature variations in the display cabinets will be reduced. The latter will in turn improve the quality of the frozen goods.
