Summary
Potato shoot tips were cryopreserved using a vitrification-droplet method then refrigerated. The effects of apex size, sucrose concentration, preculture duration and cold hardening on the viability of the shoot tips were investigated. The cryopreserved shoot tips resumed growth within 20 days and the refrigerated shoots within 30 days. The varieties with the highest regrowth levels were: Désirée, Ostara and Sante.
