Possibilities of the model on keeping quality of vegetable produce in controlled atmosphere and modified atmosphere applications.

Summary

For optimizing postharvest storage and distribution chains, a generic dynamic model for estimating the keeping quality during a specific postharvest chain has been developed. The model can be used for calculations at any point during the postharvest distribution chain. So far, the model had only been tested for normal air conditions. Therefore, experiments were conducted to collect data suitable for testing which of the model parameters the controlled atmosphere-modified atmosphere conditions affect. Experiments on broccoli are reported, and results are given.
