Summary

POSTHARVEST DECAY OF STONE FRUIT IS MOSTLY CAUSED BY MONILINIA FRUCTICOLA (WINT.) HONEY, M. LAXA (ADERH. & RUHL.) HONEY AND RHIZOPUS STOLONIFER (FR.) LIND. THE RELATIVE IMPORTANCE OF THE FUNGI OFTEN VARIES FROM ONE COUNTRY TO ANOTHER AND MIGHT ALSO DIFFER BETWEEN FRUIT PRODUCING AREAS. SEVERAL PRE-NTI PREHARVEST FUNGICIDAL TREATMENTS ARE MOSTLY AIMED AT PREVENTING INFECTION IN THE FIELD OR DECREASING THE INOCULUM LEVEL, WHEREAS POSTHARVEST PROTECTIVE OR CURATIVE MEASURES ARE IMPLEMENTED TO ERADICATE INFECTIONS ORIGINATING DURING HARVEST OR STORAGE.
