Potato stores: insulation and building physics.
Kartoffellager: Dämmung und Bauphysik.
Author(s) : JANSSEN H.
Type of article: Article
Summary
The temperature in the store should be kept between 4-8 deg C. Wall and floor insulation must be of sufficient thickness to keep the store frost proof. The pressure from the weight of potatoes must also be taken into account with timber and steel framed constructions. Various alternative insulation materials (porous concrete blocks, polyurethane foam, natural fibres and others) and their applications to walls, floors, roofs and entrance doors are discussed.
