Summary

THE POWER CONSUMPTION OF REFRIGERATING INSTALLATIONS IS HIGHLY AFFECTED BY THE TYPE OF CONDENSER EMPLOYED. THERE ARE DISTINCT ADVANTAGES IN USING EVAPORATIVE CONDENSERS, BUT THEIR EFFICIENCY DEPENDS LARGELY UPON THE AIR VELOCITY SELECTED. EXPERIMENTS HAVE BEEN CARRIED OUT TO DETERMINE THE EFFECT OF THE AIR VELOCITY AND COOLING WATER FLOW RATE ON POWER CONSUMPTION AND HENCE THE OVERALL ANNUAL ENERGY CONSUMPTION.
