Summary

In this study, a new prediction model on condensation heat transfer was developed for pure refrigerants in rectangular mini-channels. In the previous studies it has been shown that, to predict the condensation heat transfer characteristics in rectangular mini channels, the effect of vapor shear stress and surface tension have to be considered. The various flow regimes in mini channels were divided into two categories of annular and intermittent flows. In annular flow regime, the vapor shear and surface tension effects dominant heat transfer characteristics. The correlation in this region was developed based on the theoretical consideration. In the intermittent flow region, the heat transfer characteristics of the vapor plug zone is the same as the annular flow region, while that of liquid slug zone is the same as liquid single flow. When treating annular flow as intermittent flow with a long vapor plus and a short liquid slug, a new correlation was developed which successfully predicted heat transfer data.
