Preharvest factors and postharvest quality decline of apples.

Author(s) : JAGER A. de, PUTTER H. de

Summary

The authors describe an initial series of experiments performed in apple orchards comprising various varieties of apples. Analyis of apples was performed before and during harvesting. A second series of experiments involved an apple orchard with one apple variety only; various doses of fertilizer (Na, P, K, Ca, Mg), were used in this experiment in order to determine the influence of fertilizers on fruit quality. This study gave rise to many correlations, and these are described.
