PREVENTION OF THE INTERNAL BROWNING OF THE PASSE CRASSANE PEAR BY APPLICATION OF LEAF NUTRIENT SPRAY.

PROPHYLAXIE DU BRUNISSEMENT INTERNE DE LA POIRE PASSE CRASSANE PAR UNE NUTRITION FOLIAIRE D'APPOINT.

Summary

INTERNAL BROWNING OF THE PASSE CRASSANE PEAR IS A DISEASE WHICH APPEARS DURING COLD STORAGE, BUT ORIGINATES IN THE ORCHARD. DISEASED FRUITS REVEAL AT HARVEST 1/3 DEFICITS IN NITROGEN, PHOSPHORUS, POTASSIUM, MAGNESIUM ; EXCESS OF CALCIUM. REPEATED SPRAYING OF LEAF NUTRIENTS, RICH IN PHOSPHORUS AND POTASSIUM, APPLIED DURING THE WHOLE GROWTH, REDUCE SIGNIFICANTLY THE DAMAGE CAUSED BY THE DISEASE. THIS RESULT SEEMS TO BE BOUND WITH A GOOD LEAVES-TO-FRUIT TRANSFER OF THE MINERAL ELEMENTS SPRAYED AS NUTRIENT SOLUTION. THE MOST APPROPRIATE PERIOD OF APPLICATION SEEMS TO BE THE FIRST HALF OF THE FRUIT GROWTH PHASE.
