Summary
Heat pump heating plants have been investigated with reference to primary energy demand and greenhouse gas emissions. The calculations are based on measurements of installed plants. With electricity (public supply mix) powered heat pumps 21% (ground/water) respectively 29% (water/water) primary energy can be saved compared with gas condensing boilers. Greenhouse gases can be reduced by 22 to 30% respectively. With gas-driven heat pumps energy savings of 37% can be achieved and greenhouse gases can be reduced by 36%.
