These proceedings contain 131 papers of this 13th biennial Conference, co-sponsored by the IIR, which was held concurrently with the 1996 Purdue International Refrigeration Conference at Purdue University, USA, July 23-26, 1996. Two additional papers from the 1994 conference have also been included. Extract from the table of contents: screw compressors; reciprocating compressor; thermodynamics, alternative refrigerants; lubrication, wear, friction, seals, and bearings; scroll compressors; miscellaneous compressors; valve mechanics; rotary vane and other rotary compressors; heat transfer considerations; sound and vibrations, gas pulsations; turbocompressors; electronic considerations.
