Summary
The authors summarize propane's properties and reports on tests which compared its performance to R22's, as well as on a testing programme for direct-expansion, ground-source heat pumps. They conclude that R22 has better thermodynamic properties than propane, but that propane has higher COPs and significantly lower discharge temperatures.
