Quick-frozen vegetables: positioning on the Belgian quick-frozen product market.

Légumes surgelés : positionnement sur le marché belge des produits surgelés.

Type of article: Article

Summary

In Belgium the increase in demand for quick-frozen food was one of the greatest on the entire European market in 1995: an increase of 9.1% with respect to 1994 was observed, with total sales reaching 206,065 tonnes. However, the Belgian quick-frozen food market is biased because of the potato component which represents more than half the total volume. Indeed, many Belgians consider that food prepared at home is best; French fries constitute more than half the market and accounted for the greatest overall increase on this market with the exception of frozen meats.
