Summary

THE THEORETICAL RELATION BETWEEN ITS PRESSURE AND ITS SATURATION TEMPERATURE SETS R142B BETWEEN R12 ANDR114. THUS IT CAN HEAT AIR OR WATER UP TO 363 K (90 DEG C) FROM A HOT RESERVOIR AT 303-323 K (30-50 DEG C) OR PRODUCE SIMULTANEOUSLY HEAT AT 363 K (90 DEG C) AND REFRIGERATION AT 278 K (5 DEG C TESTS, WHICH LASTED ABOUT 12,000 HOURS, HAVE SHOWN THAT DIFFERENT TYPES OF COMPRESSOR (OPEN PISTON COMPRESSORS, SINGLE-SCREW AND COMPOUND-OPEN COMPRESSORS) CAN USE R142B WITHOUT UNDERGOING ANY MODIFICATION. HIGH TEMPERATURE PERFORMANCES ARE CLOSE TO THOSE OBTAINED WITH R22 AT LOW TEMPERATURE. CHEMICAL ANALYSES OF R142B AND OF MOBIL OIL SHC 234 OIL, AFTER EACH TEST, DO NOT SHOW ANY CHANGE IN THEIR PROPERTIES.
