VISCOSITY MEASUREMENTS ON 6 WORKING FLUID/LUBRICANT MIXTURES.

Author(s) : BERTINAT M. P.

Type of article: Article, IJR article

Summary

VISCOSITY MEASUREMENTS ARE REPORTED FOR 6 WORKING FLUID/LUBRICANT MIXTURES, ALL FOR USE IN HIGH TEMPERATURE HEAT PUMPS. THE MIXTURES RANGE FROM SLIGHTLY MISCIBLE TO COMPLETELY MISCIBLE, AND THE MEASUREMENT COVER A RANGE OF PRESSURES FROM ZERO (NEAT LUBRICANT) TO NEAR SATURATED VAPOUR PRESSURE. THE REDUCTION IN LUBRICANT VISCOSITY IS LARGELY DEPENDENT UPON THE SOLUBILITY OF THE WORKING FLUID. MORE ACCURATELY, THE LOG OF VISCOSITY IS FOUND TO BE QUADRATIC IN VOLUME FRACTION. RAOULT'S LAW IS CERTAINLY NOT APPLICABLE FOR THESE MIXTURES.
