Summary

THE SUBSTITUTION OF A REFRIGERANT BY ANOTHER IN THE SAME INSTALLATION HAS BEEN DONE FOR A LONG TIME, ESSENTIALLY TO INCREASE THE INSTALLATION PERFORMANCE AT LOW COST. THIS TYPE OF SUBSTITUTION IS NOW CARRIED OUT TO REPLACE THE CFC FLUIDS WHICH ARE ABOUT TO BE TOTALLY BANNED IN THE NEAR FUTURE. WHILE WAITING FOR PURE SUBSTITUTE FLUIDS TO BECOME AVAILABLE, ONE CAN IN SOME CASES USE ZEOTROPIC MIXTURES TO REPLACE THE FLUIDS TO BE PHASED OUT. SUCH IS THE CASE FOR BINARY MIXTURES CONTAINING R22.
