Summary

Removal of field heat and applications of fungicides in the field were assessed for their effectiveness in reducing losses caused by cottony soft rot (Sclerotinia sclerotiorum) in stored carrots. It is concluded that the spread of cottony soft rot in stored carrots is controlled most effectively by rapid cooling after harvest, but field applications of fungicides can augment proper storage management in the control of this disease.
