Summary

BROILER PRECHILLER WATER FROM A COMMERCIAL BROILER PROCESSING PLANT WAS SUCCESSFULLY RECONDITIONED USING A BENCH TOP DE PRESSURE LEAF FILTER. FLOW RATE WAS HELD CONSTANT. THE DE FILTRATION RESULTED IN SIGNIFICANT REDUCTIONS IN CHEMICAL OXYGEN DEMAND (70.9%) AND AEROBIC PLATE COUNTS (90 TO 96%). WATER CLARITY OR PERCENTAGE OF LIGHT TRANSMISSION (% T, 500 NANOMETERS) OF THE FILTERED WATER IMPROVED SIGNIFICANTLY TO AN AVERAGE% T VALUE OF 97.9%.
