Summary

ON NOVEMBER 25TH 1988, A MEETING WAS ORGANIZED TO EXCHANGE IDEAS AND INFORMATION ON THE GROWING PROBLEM OF DISCARDED REFRIGERATORS. THEIR COOLING SYSTEMS CONTAIN CFCS AND LUBRICATING OIL, BOTH POLLUTANTS. VARIOUS LECTURES WERE DELIVERED ON THIS SUBJECT BY REPRESENTATIVES OF THE MINISTRIES AND INSTITUTIONS INVOLVED. AFTER A DEMONSTRATION OF A PROTOTYPE OF A MOBILE RECUPERATING UNIT, THE PARTICIPANTS WERE INVITED TO GIVE THEIR IDEAS ON POSSIBLE SOLUTIONS IN FINANCING, LOGISTICS, LEGISLATION AND PROCEDURES TO START A PROJECT IN WHICH DIFFERENT ASPECTS OF REFRIGERATOR DRAINING, DISMANTLING, TRANSPORTATION, ETC, CAN BE INVESTIGATED.
