Summary

WHEN HOUSEHOLD APPLIANCES ARE TAKEN OUT OF SERVICE THEY OUGHT TO BE DELIVERED TO COMPANIES WHICH REMOVE THEIR CFC REFRIGERANT INTO SUITABLE VESSELS. FOR LARGER INSTALLATIONS, THE FLUID IS REMOVED IN THE FIELD. AFTER CHEMICAL ANALYSIS, A LIGHTLY CONTAMINATED REFRIGERANT IS SENT TO A RECLAIMING CENTRE, AT WHICH THE PURIFICATION IS DONE THROUGH EVAPORATION-CONDENSATION, FILTERING, NEUTRALIZATION OF ACIDS, OR DRYIN. THE FINAL PHYSICAL AND CHEMICAL PROPERTIES OF A RECLAIMED REFRIGERANT CAN BE CLOSE TO THE ONES OF A NEW PRODUCT, AS IS SHOWN IN A TABLE OF SPECIFICATIONS FOR R12 FROM A RECLAIMING INSTALLATION IN OPERATION IN ITALY.
