Reduction of energy consumption by means of continuous control of the compressor speed and use of fans in a domestic refrigerator.

Summary

The potential for reducing energy consumption by using continuous control of the compressor in a refrigerator instead of on/off control is investigated both theoretically and experimentally. Energy savings of about 30% can be reached. The potential for overall energy saving by the use of a small evaporator fan using only approximately 0,3 watts is from between 10 and 15%. The charge in working fluid (for instance R600a) has to be calculated with great accuracy. A few grams above or under the right amount provide bad results.
