Summary

FOUR COOLING UNITS WITH EUTECTIC STORAGE LOCATED OUTSIDE THE TRAILER, WERE DEVELOPED. DIFFERENT TYPES OF COOLING CIRCUIT FOR THE EUTECTIC STORAGE AND FOR THE TRAILER (IN PARALLEL AND IN SERIES), OF REFRIGERANTS AND EUTECTIC SOLUTIONS, AND OF CONFIGURATIONS,WERE TESTED. THE FINAL EQUIPMENT OPTIMIZED WAS TESTED BOTH WITH AN EMPTY TRAILER AND WITH A LOADED TRAILER, IN TUNNEL AND AT AN AMBIENT TEMPERATURE OF 303 K (30 DEG C) AND FOR A RELATIVE HUMIDITY OF 55%. AFTER 15 OPENINGS OF THE DOOR LASTING 2 MINUTES, EVERY 30 MINUTES, THE MEAN TEMPERATURE OF THE REMAINING LOAD WITHIN THE VEHICLE (46%) WAS 250.7 K (-22.3 DEG C) WHEN INITIALLY AT 246.7 K (-26.3 DEG C) FOR 7.50 HOURS.
