MEASUREMENT OF ETHYLENE GAS PRIOR TO AND DURING TRANSPORT.

Author(s) : LAWTON A. R.

Summary

BECAUSE OF THE VERY LOW CONCENTRATION IT IS EFFECTIVE AT, IT IS NOT GENERALLY MEASURED WITHIN THE TRANSPORT CHAIN. IT HAS BEEN SUGGESTED THAT ETHYLENE IS RESPONSIBLE FOR OCCASIONAL POOR QUALITY OF PRODUCE AFTER LONG JOURNEYS. SYSTEMATIC MEASUREMENTS WERE TAKEN IN STORES (APPLES, KIWIFRUITS). AN ULTRA-VIOLET REMOVER DEVICE HAS BEEN TESTED.
