Summary

AN ELECTRONIC EXPANSION VALVE IS DESCRIBED FOR MAINTAINING A CONSTANT AIR TEMPERATURE DIFFERENCE ACROSS THE EVAPORATOR AND HIGH HUMIDITY IN A STORE CONTAINING CHINESE CABBAGE. THE RESULTS ARE COMPARED WITH THOSE FROM A SIMILAR STORE WHOSE COOLER IS FITTED WITH A THERMAL EXPANSION VALVE. THE ELECTRONIC VALVE SYSTEM GAVE A HIGHER RELATIVE HUMIDITY, LOWER WEIGHT LOSS AND A HIGHER PRODUCT PRICE AFTER 3 1/2 MONTHS STORAGE. G.R.S.
