A STUDY OF HEAT LOADS IN FISHING VESSELS OF ATLANTIC CANADA WAS CONCERNED WITH PRACTICES EMPLOYED BY FISHERMEN AND BOATBUILDERS WITH A VIEW TO GOVERNMENT REGULATIONS AND GUIDELINES, INCLUDING THE USE OF MECHANICAL REFRIGERATION AS A SUPPLEMENT TO ICE. EMPHASIS WAS PLACED ON THE ROLE OF INSULATION. CALCULATED HEAT LOADS IN SEVERAL REPRESENTATIVE CASES WERE EXAMINED IN DETAIL.
