Summary
Refrigeration through cogeneration has a great development potential since it makes it possible to recover heat which would otherwise be lost. Its correct application requires a deep knowledge of absorption machines and engines which may cause problems not easy to solve due to both the additional costs they bring about and the effective use of heat recovery. This subject is dealt with in a two-part article. Part 1 focuses on absorption refrigeration cycles and on the available refrigeration techniques through cogeneration. Part 2 takes into consideration the problems related to the application of the techniques previously described and, in conclusion, the development potential of refrigeration through cogeneration.
