Summary
The consultation was held in Rome, Italy, on November 13 to 14, 1995. It discussed different areas of concern (criteria to determine which substances should always be declared on a label; approach to class naming conventions for allergenic food products; labelling requirements for allergenic components of composite ingredients). It also provided recommendations for these areas as well as some general recommendations regarding food allergens including future research, testing methodology and standardized substances for diagnostic purposes.
